Newsletter 8th June 2022

Dear All,

The Jubilee session was a great success last week, lots of flags, bunting and music and everyone enjoyed themselves.  The weather was great and the catering table was very popular.  We intend to resume providing refreshments each week as this helps make the sessions a lot more sociable – thanks Sue for organising this!

If you’ve not yet booked a slot for this week, please email Jennifer@wfaoxford.org (no later than midday on Thursday).

Friday 1 July – as mentioned before, we’ll be running an extra special inclusive session in conjunction with Bike Oxford – medals for everyone achieving their own personal challenge – and more refreshments!

And as mentioned last week we’re going to start running Tuesday sessions.  These will start on Tuesday 5 July.  We’ll run slots at 10am and 11am to start with.  Jennifer will be taking bookings for these as usual, so please let her know if you want to book a slot.

Some of our existing leaders and volunteers will be helping on some Tuesdays but we’d love to invite new volunteers to come and help.  As usual, it’s a flexible arrangement – volunteers are welcome to help whichever days they are available and for all or part of the morning – whatever is convenient for them.  Let us know if you are interested!

Our friends at the Windrush Bike Project continue to run Wheels for All sessions in Witney every Saturday (11-1pm for ages 2-16 and 1-2pm is for 16+).  They are based at a school in Witney. Please note that Wheels for All Oxford and Wheels for All Witney are separate organisations and for the Witney sessions you need to contact Brigitte at the Windrush Bike Project (wfa@windrushbikeproject.uk).

Many people are more relaxed about Covid but Government guidelines continue to advise caution when in close proximity to anyone who may be at higher risk of becoming seriously ill.  Many of our participants are vulnerable, so please do not attend a WFA session if you think you might be infected or if you have had recent close contact with someone, eg in your household, who has Covid-19. Possible symptoms include runny nose, sore throat, headache and fatigue.

Hand sanitiser is provided on the reception desk and surface cleaner on the table by the entrance to the track.  Please help yourself to wipe down bikes before/after use if our volunteers are busy with other participants.  Cleaning materials are also provided near the toilet.

See you on Friday (and the forecast is currently good)!
