Newsletter – 18th May 2022

Dear All,

The good weather seems to be here so our numbers are increasing.  Our 12 midday slot is much quieter if you want more space, a greater choice of cycles and more 1-2-1 attention – and the 12 midday slot is FREE at present! If you’ve not yet booked a slot for this week, please email Jennifer@wfaoxford.org no later than midday on Thursday.

Please also get your bookings in early for 1 July (see below).

As there are more people cycling around the track, please may we ask you to leave plenty of space if you overtake someone and please do not ‘whoosh’ past them as this can be disconcerting for the other riders.

Please may we also ask everyone to ensure the tap is turned off after using the toilet and the toilet is left as you would like to find it.  There have been a couple of times when the floor has been left wet which is unpleasant for subsequent users.  Please use the mop and bucket if necessary to dry the floor.

Getting to the Sports Ground: please note that Bus 46 now stops at the entrance to the sports ground (at 30 mins past the hour when coming from Oxford and 3 mins past the hour when going back to Oxford).  We hope that this will help some of you get to the sports ground more easily (NB Google maps may not yet be showing this option).  If you let Jennifer know you may use the bus she can adapt your arrival time as appropriate.

A Reminder: Bike Oxford is happening in July and they are helping us run a special inclusive event during our session on Friday 1 July. Make sure you’ve booked your slot.

Also, we hear that Oxford City Athletics Club has re-introduced inclusive athletic sessions on Wednesday evenings.  We’ll try to provide more info next week.

Many people are more relaxed about Covid but Government guidelines continue to advise that “it is particularly important that a person with symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, avoids close contact with people whose immune system means that they are at higher risk of serious illness. If a person has tested positive for COVID-19 they should avoid those people who are at higher risk of serious illness for a 10-day period.”  Many of our participants are vulnerable, so please do not attend a WFA session if you think you might be infected or if you have had recent close contact with someone, eg in your household, who has tested positive or has any cold-like symptoms. Hand sanitiser is provided on the reception desk and surface cleaner on the table by the entrance to the track.  Please help yourself to wipe down bikes before/after use if our volunteers are busy with other participants.  Cleaning materials are also provided near the toilet.

We look forward to seeing many of you on Friday.
