Dear All,
Another well-attended session last week. If you’ve not yet booked a slot for this week, please email Jennifer@wfaoxford.org no later than midday on Thursday.
Many thanks to everyone who helps make the Wheels for All sessions run smoothly and helps everyone enjoy their cycling.
Our e-assist cycles continue to be popular so we are investigating the possibility of getting another. The electric assistance operates up to about 15mph. This is faster than most of the other people cycling around the track so please may we ask users to use only the lower levels of assistance so they do not cycle much faster than other people on the track. This helps keep it safer for everyone and also means that the battery lasts longer – if its used on the high setting all the time it sometimes runs out before the end of the session.
An exciting diary entry for you on Friday 1 July. We are very excited to announce that Wheels for All Oxford and Iconic Cycling will be working in partnership to ensure the Bike Oxford weekend will be a fully inclusive sportive event – with a special event at the Horspath Athletics track on 1st July. Further details will be provided next week so make sure you’ve booked your slot for that session.
Whilst many people seem to be more relaxed about Covid Government guidelines continue to advise that “it is particularly important that a person with symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, avoids close contact with people whose immune system means that they are at higher risk of serious illness. If a person has tested positive for COVID-19 they should avoid those people who are at higher risk of serious illness for a 10-day period.” Many of our participants are vulnerable, so please do not attend a WFA session if you think you might be infected or if you have had recent close contact with someone, eg in your household, who has tested positive or has any cold-like symptoms. We continue to provide hand sanitiser on the reception desk and surface cleaner on the table by the entrance to the track. Please help yourself to wipe down bikes before/after use if our volunteers are busy with other participants. Cleaning materials are also provided near the toilet.
We look forward to seeing many of you on Friday.
