Newsletter – 11th April 2022

Dear All,

We’re sending our email earlier this week to help you plan your activities over Easter.

Good Friday: we will be running the session from 10am and packing up around midday as it is usually quieter when the school groups are away. You can arrive at any time during the session and if you haven’t already booked, please email jennifer@wfaoxford.org by midday on Thursday.  If your usual slot starts at midday, please come earlier on Good Friday.

Easter holidays are a good time for people to attend who can’t usually make it during the working week.  Newcomers are very welcome to attend:  please email Jennifer and complete the consent form which can be downloaded from our website.  Payment (£3 per participant) should be made online — see details in the attached WFA Guidelines.

Friday 22 April: we will run slots at 10am, 11am and 12 as usual.  If you’ve not already booked a slot, please email Jennifer.

A reminder that we cater primarily for adults (including teenagers) as most of our cycles are adult size.  We have one or two smaller cycles that can be used by older children if they are accompanying adult participants.  For younger children, we suggest you try Junior Wheels for All in Witney which is run by the Windrush Bike Project on Saturday mornings.

Congratulations to the Oxford Association for the Blind (OAB) – all three of their teams successfully completed their tandem challenge last Friday by cycling 22km (about 55 laps!) to raise money to help support the 22,000 people in Oxfordshire with a visual impairment.  More details on their Facebook page.

Please remember that the government guidelines say that “it is particularly important that a person with symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, avoids close contact with people whose immune system means that they are at higher risk of serious illness. If a person has tested positive for COVID-19 they should avoid those people who are at higher risk of serious illness for a 10-day period.”  Many of our participants are vulnerable, so please do not attend a WFA session if you think you might be infected or if you have had recent close contact with someone, eg in your household, who has tested positive or has any cold-like symptoms.

Hand sanitiser is available on the reception desk and surface cleaner available on the table by the entrance to the track.  Please help yourself to wipe down bikes before/after use if our volunteers are busy with other participants.  Cleaning materials are also provided near the toilet.

We look forward to seeing many of you on Friday.
