Newsletter – 6th April 2022

This week the Oxford Association for the Blind (OAB) are running their tandem challenge during our Friday session.  Three teams are each aiming to cycle 22km to raise money, and awareness, to help support the 22,000 people in Oxfordshire with a visual impairment.  More details can be found on their Facebook page. You are welcome to ride around with them to cheer them on.

The government has issued new guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other infections.  These include “people with symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, and who have a high temperature or do not feel well, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with others” and “it is particularly important that a person with symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, avoids close contact with people whose immune system means that they are at higher risk of serious illness. If a person has tested positive for COVID-19 they should avoid those people who are at higher risk of serious illness for a 10-day period.”

As many of our participants are vulnerable, please do not attend a WFA session if you think you might be infected or if you have had recent close contact with someone, eg in your household, who has tested positive or has any cold-like symptoms.   If you’d like to book a slot (at 10, 11 or 12) this week or for subsequent weeks please email jennifer@wfaoxford.org (please reply to Jennifer’s email address for bookings not this email).  Bookings need to be made by midday on Thursday.   We will be running our weekly sessions every Fridayas usual throughout the Easter holidays (and including Good Friday) so please book a slot if you haven’t already.

Hand sanitiser is available on the reception desk and surface cleaner available on the table by the entrance to the track.  Please help yourself to wipe down bikes before/after use if our volunteers are busy with other participants.

Cleaning materials are also provided near the toilet.

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Friday.
